MARSHFIELD, Mass. – The Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) weekly awards were announced for games through Sunday, September 15th. Dean College teammates Julian Burris (Rock Hill, S.C.) and Shannon Moxey (Austell, Ga.) took home Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors, while Alfred State’s Andrew Pierre-Paul (Brooklyn, N.Y) and Michael Zimmerman (Canandaigua, N.Y.) earned Rookie of the Week and Special Teams Player of the Week honors, respectively.
Offensive Player of the Week
Julian Burris – Dean College
(Senior, WR – Rock Hill, S.C.)
In a monster performance, Julian Burris hauled in a career-high nine passes for 158 yards. Burris had an electrifying 63 yards reception in which he weaved through the defense setting up the Bulldogs for their second touchdown of the game. The senior wide receiver finished the day with 167 all-purpose yards.
Defensive Player of the Week
Shannon Moxey – Dean College
(Senior, DB - Maple Shade, N.J.)
Moxey had a standout performance in the Bulldogs' loss to Western Connecticut State on a rainy Saturday evening. He finished with a game-high nine tackles, including one for a six-yard loss. Moxey also added an interception and a pair of pass breakups to his totals.
Rookie of the Week
Andrew Pierre-Paul - Alfred State
(Freshman, DB - Brooklyn, N.Y.)
Pierre-Paul recorded five total tackles (3 solo), had two pass break-ups, and had an interception. The freshman defensive back returned his interception 41 yards for a score that gave the Pioneers a 20-6 lead in the game.
Special Teams Player of the Week
Michael Zimmerman - Alfred State
(Senior, SS - Canandaigua, N.Y.)
Zimmerman punted five times for an average of 39.2 yards per attempt. Three of his punts landed inside the 20 and he had a long of 62 yards in the game. He was also 2 of 3 on PAT attempts.
